ANOTHER

DECAYING CROWN

A DOCUMENTARY

THE STORY

Another Decaying Crown is a documentary that follows Toronto Artist SepTo from 2015, fresh off the completion of his latest and most acclaimed body of work, through his loss of inspiration to promote it. #ADC explores greater themes of artist struggle and internal conflict through the perspectives and opinions of many contributors to Toronto's music community. It examines the decaying usefulness and impact of today's "true artist" within a newly-evolved and over-saturated market.

SepTo is a Hip-Hop artist born and raised in the city of Toronto. His passion for the artform was inherent, nearly genetic, as he was born into a family that constantly surrounded him with rappers, breakdancers, DJ’s, graffiti artists, activists and Canadian Hip-Hop pioneers. This naturally evolved into writing songs and freestyling by the age of 9. Before long, he was writing, performing, producing and mixing his own material with a team of like-minded friends. Although consistently navigating within and throughout the Canadian music industry, SepTo remains an underground success. From open mics to festival stages like Iriefest and Manifesto, SepTo has drawn crowds of thousands to witness his stage show. Today, SepTo has worked with many of Toronto’s most celebrated rappers/producers and has released 2 highly acclaimed albums worldwide; Almost NevR in 2014 & God Mind the following year. In 2015, SepTo approached director Alex Huard with 2 choices, shoot another music video, or a feature length documentary. In 2018, the feature length film, Another Decaying Crown was completed.

SEPTO - PRODUCER, DIRECTOR

Born and raised in Whitby, Ontario, Canada; Alex had an almost immediate passion for film. Graduating in 2011 from Loyalist College’s Television and New Media program where he honed his skills in shooting, producing and directing, he would later move to Toronto seeking greater opportunities. In 2014, Alex co-founded The Northern Hussle - a web series centred around the underground urban culture of Toronto. These activities would eventually lead to him meeting SepTo, while conducting interviews and obtaining coverage for the series at one of his events. Alex would go on to feature SepTo in his web series and foster a relationship that culminated in him being responsible for nearly every visual release for SepTo’s 2014 album; Almost NevR. Both wanting to continue their working relationship and simultaneously not wishing to shoot another music video, SepTo approached Alex with an idea to shoot a documentary in 2015. In 2018, the feature length film, Another Decaying Crown, was completed.
